Not that I'm an expert but......
Also, most people would at the very least try to back up such a statement with some sort of rationale!

Lil,
"Short of having a beer with a "connected" Chamorro, planting him with the idea for the monument, and asking him to initiate the idea.."

I think this was exactly the mistake they made. It was left up to Angelo who, for all intents and purposes, is not as well connected as someone who has lived here their entire life.

Also, in the minds of many government officials the "proper channels" were not followed and that has pissed some people off to the point that yes "federalization" has become the excuse du jour.

"Unfortunately, there are alot of folks here fall into two camps, those who can't tell their ass from their face.. and those who can't see past their personal greed. Simple as that".

I guess that's exactly why Uncle Sam feels he needs to be involved in things like immigration, labor and environmental quality to name a few.

It IS too bad, especially in this case because Uncle Sam is ready to infuse the CNMI with a lot of cash and jobs without really asking for anything in return that is not already under federal control.scubatripphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07503265598968789965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5603230977766349701.post-13173744628293747072008-07-18T21:36:00.000+10:002008-07-18T21:36:00.000+10:00Short of having a beer with a "connected" Chamorro...Short of having a beer with a "connected" Chamorro, planting him with the idea for the monument, and asking him to initiate the idea.. I don't think it mattered how this idea was forwarded to the public. The fact that the federal government was involved ended it for many narrow-minded people. A bunch are against it, simply because they see it as a future barrier to their potential personal profits.

That's it.

It's a great idea.. "irregardless" of who initiated it. Unfortunately, there are alot of folks here fall into two camps, those who can't tell their ass from their face.. and those who can't see past their personal greed.
